Coroner Margaret Fisher identifies the victim of a car crash that happened Sunday afternoon

Lexington, SC 05/23/2022 (Paul Kirby) - Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has released the identity of the person who died in a single-vehicle accident near the intersection of Old Barnwell Road and White Knoll Way Sunday afternoon, According to Fisher, this collision occurred shortly before 2:30 p.m. on May 22, 2022.

According to Coroner Fisher, Jorge Wyatt Rodriguez-Coleman, 19, of West Columbia was traveling westbound on Old Barnwell Road toward Red Bank when the vehicle he was driving left the right side of the roadway which caused him to lose control. His car then overturned and landed in a creek. Rodriguez-Coleman, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, was pronounced dead at the scene due to the injuries sustained.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate the incident.
