Coroner’s identifies person who died in Mineral Springs Road collision

Lexington, SC 09/01/2021 - Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher identified the person who was killed in a collision in the Town of Lexington Tuesday afternoon. According to the Coroner, the crash occurred in the 2600 block of Mineral Springs Road shortly after 3:00 p.m. on August 31, 2021.

Coroner Fisher said Wednesday that Wanda Williams Nichols, 64, of West Columbia was killed when the car she was driving collided with another vehicle. Nichols was pronounced dead at the scene from the injuries she sustained in the accident. The driver of the other vehicle was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. She also said that Nichols was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the collision


The incident remains under investigation by the Town of Lexington Police Department.
