Country Creek Lane Fatality

Lexington, SC 02/07/2026 - Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the person who died in a single-engine plane crash that occurred in the 500 block of Country Creek Lane in the Gilbert area of Lexington County on February 6, 2026, at approximately 9:25 a.m.

According to Coroner Fisher, Mr. Andrew Frederick Nichols, 30, of Huntsville, Alabama was a passenger in an aircraft which lost engine power and crashed. Mr. Nichols was pronounced dead at the scene. The pilot was transported to an area hospital with what was reported as critical injuries.

The Lexington County Coroner’s Office, the NTSB, and the FAA are continuing to investigate the incident.
