Lexington, SC 11/01/2022 (Paul Kirby) - Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher, has positively identified the woman who died in a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Platt Springs Road and Sandy Springs Road in Red Bank shortly before 8:30 a.m. on November 1, 2022.
According to Coroner Fisher, Takkia Sierra Dawkins, 37, of Lexington attempted to turn onto Platt Springs Road from Sandy Springs Lane when she was struck by another vehicle that was driving toward South Lake Drive on Platt Springs Road. Fisher said that Dawkins, who was wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene due to the injuries sustained. A juvenile passenger in Dawkins’s vehicle, who was wearing a seatbelt, was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the other vehicle, who was wearing a seatbelt, was also transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate the incident.
