County Council to hold public hearing on incentives for two large businesses to locate here

Lexington, SC 10/24/2022 (Paul Kirby) – After their regularly scheduled committee meetings and council meeting tomorrow afternoon, the Lexington County Council will hold a required public hearing which will start at 6 p.m. The subject of that meeting will be a Fee-In-Lieu of AD Valorem Taxes and Special Source Revenue Credit Agreement. These are normally used as a part of a standard economic incentive package businesses to locate large manufacturing and distribution centers in Lexington County.

The two entities being included in this package are Chick-Fil-A Supply, LLC and Supply Properties I, LLC. The businesses are one and the same. They had asked that Lexington County use the two names as such when the incentive package was put together, The business will construct their facility on a Project Site in a Multi-County Business Park. This is a common occurrence that has been offered to businesses such as the Amazon Fulfillment Center and Nephron Pharmaceuticals to lure them to Lexington County Business Parks in the past. Each one of those businesses have brought with them hundreds if not thousands of high paying jobs with benefits for people of every level of education.

The amended ordinance reads verbatim: Ordinance 22-14 – An Ordinance Authorizing Pursuant to Chapter 44 of Title 12, South Carolina Code of Laws, 1976, as Amended, the Execution and Delivery of a Fee-In-Lieu of AD Valorem Taxes and Special Source Revenue Credit Agreement Between Lexington County, South Carolina and Chick-Fil-A Supply, LLC and Supply Properties I, LLC; Authorizing the Inclusion of a Project Site in a Multi-County Business Park; Authorizing Certain Special Source Revenue Credits; Authorizing the Approval of a Purchase Agreement Providing for the Conveyance of Land by the County; and Matters Relating Thereto.
