County firefighters battle mobile home fire Monday evening

Red Bank, SC 12/20/2022 (Paul Kirby) - On Monday December 19, 2022, at around 6:25 p.m., firefighters with the Lexington County Fire Service responded to the 100 block of Wilma Ann Drive off Platt Springs Road for a reported structure fire. Upon arrival of the first due engine, Fire Service personnel encountered a vacant mobile home with fire and smoke showing from the front of the home. The first crews estimated that the home was approximately 20% involved.

First due units deployed a pre-connected hand line to attack the fire while a second truck tagged a nearby fire hydrant for water supply. The combined teams quickly extinguished the fire. Another team began performing search operations to ensure no one was occupying the home.

In total, there were nineteen fire personnel, four fire engines, one ladder truck, and two Battalion Chiefs operated on scene. It took them a total of 47 minutes to completely put out the fire. There were no injuries reported.
