Lexington, SC 07/01/2021 - During a recent meeting of the Lexington County School District One Board of Trustees the board approved the promotion of Tiffany R. Miller to assistant principal of Forts Pond Elementary School and Kelly R. Smoak to assistant principal of Gilbert Middle School. Currently, Smoak teaches social studies at River Bluff High School and Miller serves as a digital learning coach at White Knoll High School.
Tiffany Miller began her education career in 2007 as a fifth grade teacher at Congaree Elementary School in Lexington County School District Two. During five years teaching at CES, she led the fifth grade team and the CES Drama Club, managed the school’s website, oversaw a schoolwide Behavioral Interventions and Support program, mentored student-teachers and served on the PTO executive committee.
In 2012, Miller joined Lexington District One as a digital learning coach at WKHS. She administered software such as Schoology, MasteryConnect and PowerSchool. As a Google for Education Certified Coach, she also led professional learning for teachers on how to effectively use Google in their classrooms to engage students.
Miller earned a Bachelor of Arts in elementary education and a Master of Education in educational technology from the University of South Carolina. She also holds a specialist degree in educational leadership with an emphasis on principalship from Arkansas State University, with certifications in elementary education and elementary principal.
Miller begins as assistant principal of Forts Pond Elementary on July 1.
Kelly Smoak began her career in Lexington District One 13 years ago as a social studies teacher at Lexington High School. During five years at LHS, she taught geography, government, economics, history and more.
In 2013, Smoak transferred to RBHS to teach social studies and become an instructional coach. As a founding faculty member, she facilitated the social studies curriculum team, mentored new teachers, assisted with scheduling and taught various courses.
During her 8-year tenure at RBHS, she designed and led professional learning, facilitated student-led family conferences and served on the data analysis team. Smoak conducted a leadership internship beginning in 2017, collaborating with other administrators to manage disciplinary and peer mediation meetings, assist with scheduling, observe teachers and handle student attendance issues.
Smoak earned a Bachelor of Arts in history, a Master of Education in teaching and a Master of Education in educational leadership from the University of South Carolina. She holds certification in social studies, secondary principal, AP human geography and AP psychology.
Smoak begins as assistant principal of Gilbert Middle on July 1.
