District Three names Charlene High as principal of Batesburg-Leesville Primary

Batesburg-Leesville, SC (05/15/2021) - On Tuesday, May 11th, the Lexington County School District Three Board of Trustees voted to name Charlene High as the new Principal of Batesburg-Leesville Primary School. Mrs. High, who currently serves as the Assistant Principal of the school, will assume her new duties at the start of the 2021-2022 school year.


Mrs. High has worked in Lexington County School District Three since 2010, serving not only as Assistant Principal of BLPS, but also as the school’s K4 Director. Prior to becoming a Panther, Mrs. High was employed by the Orangeburg County School District where she served as a Math Instructional Coach and 4th grade teacher.

Mrs. High received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology and a Minor in Early Childhood Education from the University of South Carolina in 1993. In May of 1999, she graduated from South Carolina State University with a Master of Arts Degree in Early Childhood Education. Mrs. High went on to earn another Master of Arts Degree in Education Administration from Charleston Southern University in 2006, as well as her Education Specialist credential from Cambridge College in 2008.


“I am ecstatic to step into this new leadership role at B-L Primary School and look forward to continuing to work with our amazing staff and students. It’s a true pleasure to prepare our youngest learners for their futures and set them up for educational success,” said Mrs. High. Mrs. High is replacing current Principal Dawn Harden who is leaving her role to pursue an interest in working as an Instructional Specialist in Lexington County School District Three.
