Batesburg-Leesville, SC 08/30/2021 - During their regularly scheduled August meeting, the Lexington County School District Three Board of Trustees approved Kim Hendrix as the Lead District Nurse. The new position was formed in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and in an effort to coordinate student and staff health services across the district. Mrs. Hendrix will work collaboratively with Lexington Three’s school nurses to implement COVID-19 protocols, provide training for staff and ensure that the district’s facilities are safe, healthy environments for learning.
Mrs. Hendrix has been employed with Lexington County School District Three as the nurse at Batesburg-Leesville Middle School for the past nine years. In addition, she has also coached students as part of the “Girls on the Run” program and served as a coach for the district’s cross country team for five seasons. Prior to coming to Lexington Three, Mrs. Hendrix worked as a paramedic with Lexington EMS and in a local hospital emergency room. She holds an Associate’s Degree in Nursing from Midlands Technical College.
“School nursing has given me more than I could ever hope to give back. The relationships built in caring for the students and staff of Lexington Three have added such richness and meaning to my life. I believe that the student must be healthy to be educated and in turn, educated to be healthy,” said Mrs. Hendrix. Mrs. Hendrix is married to Jay and has two children. She is a member of Wittenberg Lutheran Church and enjoys distance running in her spare time.
