After the injured occupants from the other vehicles were treated at the scene, Perez-Maldonado was transported to and booked at the Lexington County Detention Center. He was charged with felony driving under the influence involving great bodily injuries, open container, and ABC violations. After Roldan passed on Wednesday, Perez-Maldonado was also charged with felony driving under the influence involving death.
