Early Monday morning fire on Parrish Road thought to be suspicious

Fairview, SC (06/07/2021 Paul Kirby) – A fire that was reported around 5 a.m. Monday has been deemed suspicious by firefighters. Lexington County fire and EMS responded to find an approximately 50 feet by 50 feet building well involved when they arrived just before dawn.

The fire was on Parish Road off Fairview Road between the crossroads and I-20. The area has no fire hydrants, and a water shuttle operation was utilized to get the necessary water to the scene so firefighters could operate. At one point, the county’s Public Works Department was requested in the event that a tractor was needed to pull the collapsed debris apart for access to the seat of the fire underneath.

It took several hours for the firefighters to extinguish this blaze. A battalion chief requested a deputy respond to make a suspicious fire report. Investigators from the sheriff’s department would be assisted by the fire service’s marshals if necessary in their investigation.
