Lexington, SC (05/22/2021) – Chief Terrence Green of the Lexington Police Department announced Friday that officers will be at the Market at Icehouse today and will continue being there on Saturdays once a month through the summer, for Coffee with a Cop and child passenger seat check events.
After taking necessary precautions due to coronavirus, officers are excited to again continue our Coffee with a Cop events and appreciate the partnership of The Haven Coffee House which is located on Main Street in downtown Lexington. Bringing Coffee with a Cop to the Market at Icehouse is a new idea and officers are looking forward to sharing a freshly brewed cup of coffee with those who stop by. A LPD tent will be set up in the Icehouse Pavilion and The Haven Coffee House will be serving complimentary cups of their house blend coffee.
The safety of children riding in cars is a continued focus for the Lexington Police Department and Child Passenger Seat Technicians will be set up in the parking lot ready to check child seats for those families who stop by. A LPD tent will be set up in the Icehouse Amphitheater and Pavilion parking lot and parking spaces coned off for those who would like their child’s car seat checked.
The Coffee with a Cop and CPS Check events will begin at 9:00 a.m. and end at 1:00 p.m. on the following dates at the Market at Icehouse:
May 22, 2021
June 19, 2021
July 17, 2021
August 21, 2021
September 25, 2021
“One of the toughest realities for our officers during the pandemic was the inability to continue many of our community outreach programs and we’re excited to be getting back into it with our events at the Market at Icehouse this spring and summer”, said Chief Terrence Green. “Stop by for a cup of coffee and chat with our officers and be sure that your child’s car seat is checked while you’re there. Those ten minutes learning how your child’s car seat should be secured in your vehicle could save their life during a collision.”
