Fairview, SC 10/12/2022 (Paul Kirby) – The Fairview and Pelion area Republicans will hold its next meeting on Tuesday, October 18, 2022, beginning at 7:00 p.m. These meetings are held at the Fairview Community Center, which is located at 2705 Fairview Road Leesville, SC. This is seven miles west of the Town of Pelion as you are driving toward Fairview Crossroads and Batesburg-Leesville.
Part of the mission of the group is to educate the community about current issues that face the area citizens. This month, the group’s leaders have invited Lexington County Council Chairman Scott Whetstone to speak about the one cent sales tax for roads and drainage. County voters will have a chance to vote on this proposal in the upcoming General Election in November. If passed by the voters, the proceeds of the new penny sales tax will go toward projects that specifically deal with roads and storm water issues. These include road repaving, paving of dirt roads, stormwater drainage projects, intersection improvements, and bridge repair projects to name a few. If passed, this proceeds of this tax can not be used for other expenditures by law.
Everyone is invited to attend this meeting that is free. For more information on the Fairview and Pelion area Republicans, look at their Facebook page by following this LINK.
