Pine Grove, SC 01/15/2022 (Paul Kirby) – A mobile home was gutted by fire Friday night in the Pine Grove-Oak Grove areas of Lexington County. The fire was reported around 9:15 p.m. in the 200 block of Ermine Road near the town limits of Springdale.
First arriving firefighters reported that there was heavy smoke pushing from the home when they first arrived. Teams quickly formed and they deployed their firehoses as they aggressively attacked the fire. As the battalion chiefs from Lexington County’s Fire Service and the City of West Columbia’s Fire Department arrived, they established a command system and began to direct the firefighters on scene whose numbers were quickly growing.
A water supply was established to ensure that crews never ran out of that commodity as they attacked. Their combined efforts overwhelmed the fire and brought it was eventually marked as under control. Crews then began the process of salvage and overhaul of the home, saving what possessions they could and ensuring there was no hidden fire for them to contend with later. The last fire service personnel left the scene sometime after midnight.
The cause and origin of the fire has not been released by Lexington County. At this time, the number of occupants displaced by the fire is not available.
