Friends of the Irmo Branch Library brings back LIVE Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre

Irmo, SC 06/06/2022 - LIVE Murder Mystery Dinner Theater is back! The Friends of the Irmo Branch Library will present “Crab Cakes and Murder,” Saturday, July 23, at the River Center at Saluda Shoals Park. Tickets are on sale now!

Guests are invited to a wake at the Gulf Coast home of Captain Savage Raines, who goes missing at sea during a surprise storm. The wreckage of the Half Shell is found, with no sign of the commercial fisherman. Sheriff Sandy Shoals assumes Captain Raines is dead but finds the incident especially curious since the shipwreck happened just a day after Raines announced his retirement and revealed plans to divvy up Peg Legg Seafoods. It seems everyone had a motive for sabotage.

Attendees at this audience-participatory evening of fun, prizes and mystery will be entertained by local actors and other celebrities as Sheriff Shoals reels in audience members to help troll through the evidence and casts a wide net to try to catch the guilty party. “After a virtual mystery theater presentation in 2020, due to the pandemic, and taking a hiatus in 2021 we’re excited to return to live theater,” said Friends of the Irmo Branch Library President C. Grant Jackson. The event includes a buffet meal, beer and wine tickets, a costume contest and door prizes. Grand prize will go to an audience member who solves the mystery. The evening starts at 6 p.m. and should end around 9:30 p.m. when the mystery is solved.

Tickets are $60 per person or $100 per couple and can be purchased online via PayPal at www.friendsoftheirmobranchlibrary.org or in person at the Irmo Branch Library at 6251 St. Andrews Road. Priority seating available with a single purchase of a table for 8.

An optional costume contest will also be held for audience members who are encouraged to dress either in nautical attire or mourning clothes. After all it is a wake. The event is for those 18 or older.

Crab Cakes and Murder was written by Michael Druce and is being produced by special arrangement with Pioneer Drama Service, Denver, Colorado.

The Friends of the Irmo Branch Library is a 501c(3) non-profit that supports the library’s programming through financial assistance, volunteerism and community awareness.
