Gantt joins Lexington District One as employment development coordinator

Lexington, SC 06/30/2021 - During its meeting on Tuesday, June 22, 2021, the Lexington County School District One Board of Trustees approved the hiring of Brandon H. Gantt, Ed.D., as employment development coordinator beginning July 1. Gantt comes to our district from District Five of Lexington & Richland Counties where he currently works as assistant principal of Dutch Fork Middle School.


Gantt began his career as a reading interventionist at Newberry Middle School in Newberry, South Carolina, in 2011. A year later, he transferred to Newberry Elementary where he taught fourth grade.


In 2012, he moved to Richland County School District One where he taught third grade at A.C. Moore Elementary School for three years. During this time, he also coached football at Dreher High School.


He transitioned to Seven Oaks Elementary in Lexington-Richland District Five to teach fifth grade in 2015.

In 2016, Gantt was assigned as administrative assistant principal of Nursery Road Elementary School before being promoted to assistant principal at Dutch Fork Elementary School in 2017. In his role at DFES, he oversaw teacher observations and evaluations, testing coordination, special education services, Response to Intervention, PBIS, professional development, building operations and maintenance, as well as the school’s environmental science magnet program.


Last year, he transferred to Dutch Fork Middle School as assistant principal. Serving as the seventh grade administrator, he supervised the seventh grade teachers, supported students and their families, managed the school’s communications efforts including social media, led the school’s PBIS initiative, handled attendance issues, and oversaw school clubs and field trips.


Gantt earned a Bachelor of Science in early childhood education from Newberry College, as well as a Master of Business Administration and Doctorate of Education in curriculum and instruction from Walden University. He received a Master of Education in administration and supervision from Southern Wesleyan University.


Certified in administration and early childhood education, Gantt is also a member of the South Carolina Association of School Administrators, Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, National Council of Teachers of English, National Association for the Education of Young Children, and Children and Adults with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder.
