Gaston Crime Watch brings back National Night Out after 2-year hiatus due to COVID-19

Gaston, SC 07/14/ 2022 (Paul Kirby) - The Gaston Area Crime Watch has revived it's National Night Out after a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. National Night Out is a nationwide event that allows the public to get to know their communities’ law enforcement officials in a positive way. Most of these are planned by crime watch groups that help law enforcement by keeping their eyes open for crime in the community and watching out for their neighbors.

This year's Gaston event is scheduled for Tuesday, August 2nd, 2022. It will be held at the Gaston Town Hall and Collard Festival grounds. This is located at 131 N Carlisle St, Gaston, SC. It is expected to start at 6:00 PM and will continue until the crowds thins out after it gets dark.

As in past years there will be lots to see and do. There will be food and drink vendors, plenty of water, and the live band Redeemed playing music throughout the night. Displays will include the Lexington County Sheriff's Department bomb truck, a unit from Lexington County Animal Services, the SC Highway Patrol, the South Carolina National Guard, Abraham the camel, and various local craft and table vendors. This list is growing as more agencies and businesses agree to participate daily. There is no admission charge, and everything is absolutely free.
