Lexington, SC 07/09/2021 (Paul Kirby) - The Lexington Police Department, in partnership with Safe Kids Worldwide and SC DHEC, will be holding a free drive-thru Child Passenger Safety Check this morning. It is being held at the Town of Lexington Municipal Complex at 111 Maiden Lane in the heart of Lexington beginning at 7:30 a.m. Child safety seat technicians will continue to check seats until 9:30 a.m.
As a courtesy to the town and for the sake of the roads younger motorist, Hardee's will be providing FREE biscuits and coffee for those who stop by and have their child's car seat checked.
Technicians will be checking to make sure that your child safety seat is properly installed, there is no active recall for your brand, make, or model safety seat, and that the seat hasn't surpassed its safe working age. Technicians will NOT BE looking for citable offenses in regards to child safety seats and can offer information and resources that can help you if there is an issue with your child's safety seat that makes it unsafe to continue using.
Statistics show that nearly 90% of child seats that are checked are found to be installed incorrectly or are not the correct seat or position for the child riding in it. The Lexington Team can help you with that today.
With summer travels happening now, it's important that children are riding safely and in a car seat that will protect them in the event of a collision.
