Girl Scouts include Lexington County woman in their list of Women of Distinction

Lexington County, SC (Paul Kirby) - The Girl Scouts of America Mountains to Midlands Council has named a Lexington County woman to their list of Women of Distinction. Nikole Setzler Mergo lives in the South Congaree / Red Bank area of Lexington County with her family.

According to the Girl Scouts, Nikole Setzler Mergo is a managing partner in the Columbia Office of Nexsen Pruitt. With more than 20 years of experience, Nikole represents some of the world’s largest manufacturers, health care providers and financial institutions, as well as locally owned North and South Carolina businesses. She provides business and employment litigation defense, as well as daily employment law advice and counseling to a number of corporate clients on issues involving virtually all aspects of employment law.

Nikole works for clients in both South Carolina and North Carolina, defending them in litigation across the country. Her engagements are varied, but she regularly provides advice and counsel on issues including complex commercial litigation, employment litigation defense, unfair business practices, and healthcare employment law.

As the Managing Partner, Nikole is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations and leadership for the 65 attorneys and 115 staff members based in Columbia. She helps direct the firm’s outreach and involvement in the community. Having spent the entirety of her 20-year career with Nexsen Pruet, Nikole also serves as a mentor to many of the young associates and females within the firm.

Nikole is the daughter of Senator Nikki Setzler of South Carolina Senate District 26 and his wife Ada. She is married to Lexington County Administrator Joe Mergo. Together the couple are parents to three sons. One is in the sixth grade, another is in the eighth grade, and the last is in the tenth grade at school.

Nikole will be honored by the Girl Scouts of South Carolina – Mountains to Midlands Council along with five other Columbia area women at its annual Women of Distinction Awards Celebration. This will be held on Thursday, September 24, 2020 drive in movie style. It will be held at 3401 Trenholm Road, Columbia, SC and begins at 7:00 p.m.

In March, the COVID-19 pandemic delayed their celebration of these incredible women.  They have touted this year’s celebration as a safe, social distanced way to recognize these incredible women.
