Lexington, SC - 02/02/2021 (Paul Kirby) - It’s cookie time and although the famous Girl Scout treats many of us have enjoyed for decades will be back in 2021, the way they are being distributed may be a bit different this year. During these challenging times, many Girl Scouts are selling in creative, socially distanced, and contact-free ways to keep themselves and their customers safe. They are adapting to share the joy of Girl Scout Cookies through the largest girl-led entrepreneurship program. Now cookie sales include taking contact-free pickup and delivery orders through a new national collaboration with Grubhub.
Through Grubhub, the Girl Scouts have found an additional way to facilitate contact-free cookie orders. In the Upstate and Midlands, consumers can order Girl Scout Cookies for pickup or delivery on Grubhub.com or through the Grubhub app. This provides the opportunity for girls to have a hands-on experience in managing e-commerce, market and distribute their cookies, and raise needed funds all at the same time. Local Girl Scouts will track and fulfill orders, manage inventory, and more, all using Grubhub’s back-end technology.
This method of high-tech cookie distribution will be available in Greenville, Spartanburg, and Columbia from February 12-March 7, 2021. As always, the proceeds benefit the troop and council while providing another innovative way to safely run the cookie program virtually.
According to the national leadership team at GSUSA, they are extremely grateful to Grubhub for waiving all fees so the organization can make this new delivery option feasible for sales without reducing troops’ and councils’ proceeds.
Additionally, Consumers can order NOW. If they don’t know a Girl Scout, consumers can fill out the form found at the following link. It will connect them with a local Girl Scout: https://bit.ly/3a7l6qi or go to gssc-mm.org.
Girl Scouts of South Carolina-Mountains to Midlands is even offering a shipping subsidy that amounts to 50% off to Girl Scout customers who purchase 6 or more boxes of cookies!
The Girl Scouts are still planning on having safe booth sales; they may just look a little different this year. Booth Sales begin February 12. Beginning Monday, February 1, check out their website (gssc-mm.org) to find Girl Scout Cookie selling locations or ask Alexa on your Apple device, “Alexa, where can I find Girl Scout Cookies?”
If you made a new year’s resolution and are giving up sweets—or you just want to give back, you can still support girls while bringing joy to your community, clients, teammates, teachers, frontline workers, and soldiers. Just buy the cookies you need and gift them. Order a box or a case and have it shipped to its end destination. It’s a win-win!
Here are just a few ideas:
Give Joy. Get Joy.: Support girls while recognizing your clients, customers, or team members.
Cookies for Soldiers: Send love to soldiers while building the futures of girls.
Hometown Heroes: Send a sweet message to essential workers while supporting leadership skills for girls.
Just fill out the form under the previous link or go to gssc-mm.org, to let the girls know how you want to give. Then, a Girl Scout will contact you with everything you need to be her hero and a hero to whomever you decide to show love to.
