Kiesler’s Crossroad, SC 02/01/2022 (Paul Kirby) – A shooting that occurred at the store at Kielser’s Crossroad Monday night was not because the store was robbed according to a spokesman for Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon. The shooting, which occurred about 8:45 p.m., injured one person who was hit in the leg by a round. That individual was whisked away from the scene in a vehicle heading east on Platt Springs Road, presumably driving to a hospital, where it eventually met personnel from Lexington County EMS who were enroute to the scene. At that point they took over care of the injured person.
Shortly after the shooting was reported, deputies had taped off the parking area around the building prompting motorist to suspect that the store had been robbed. However, when asked if the store had been held up Monday night, Captain Adam Myrick of the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department said, “No.” Although we have asked for more details surrounding the shooting, at this point he has not provided anything additional.
Tuesday morning, the store was open and doing a brisk business as usual.
