Happy Feet for Lexington District Two students
West Columbia, SC 10/17/2022 - It was definitely a case of happy feet at Lexington Two’s Wood Elementary School recently.
Students received a new pair of athletic shoes and socks, thanks to a community partnership between Communities in Schools of South Carolina and Truist, in conjunction with the global Samaritan’s Feet organization.
Volunteers from Truist banks, Communities in Schools, and Samaritan’s Feet worked side by side throughout most of the school day, sizing feet, helping students select a shoe color, and making sure the shoes were the right fit.
The students weren’t the only ones having a good time day.
“For Truist, our purpose, mission and values is to make an impact in the community, and one way we do that is through volunteer events like this,” said Ladonna Manis, one of nearly 30 volunteers from Truist at Wood Elementary. “It’s really exciting to be able to get out into the schools and make a difference.”
