Highway Patrol reports detail of Saturday night fatal collision

Gilbert, SC 08/28/2023 (Paul Kirby) – According to Master Trooper Brandon Bolt of the SC Highway Patrol, one person died in a single-vehicle collision on US Hwy 378 9 miles West of Gilbert last Saturday night. Bolt said that the crash occurred at approximately 9:46 pm.

According to Bolt, the decedent was travelling west toward Saluda on Hwy. 378 when the driver lost control, dropped off the right side of the road, struck a ditch, and then overturned. The driver of the vehicle was the only person in it at the time of the crash. That individual was pronounced dead on the scene as a result of injuries sustained in this collision.


Master Trooper Bolt said that this crash is being investigated by the SC Highway Patrol and the Lexington County Corner’s Office.
