Swansea, SC (Paul Kirby) 11/18/2020 – Investigators with the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department now believe the person reported to be seriously injured in a shooting this morning in Swansea was moved to the town from another location. According to Captain Adam Myrick, spokesman for the sheriff’s department, they have been investigating the shooting that happened overnight. Myrick said deputies were dispatched regarding the shooting and arrived at a business’s parking lot in the 100 block of North Church Street in Swansea about 2:30 a.m. Wednesday. They immediately found a woman with a serious gunshot wound.
Personnel from Lexington County EMS and firefighters began treating the victim who was then transported to a landing zone for a helicopter east off Gaston. She was flown to the Level 1 Trauma Center in Columbia. Her current condition is unknown. Myrick said, “Based on preliminary information gathered in the parking lot, deputies believe the shooting happened a short time earlier in the 800 block of Bachman Dykes Drive.” He said the woman is still receiving care. According to Captain Myrick, detectives are following leads on a person of interest potentially associated with the case.
