Investigators from Batesburg-Leesville Police Department investigating shooting that occurred while SC Poultry Festival was happening across town

Batesburg-Leesville, SC 05/12/2025 (Paul Kirby) - Investigators from Batesburg-Leesville Police Department are investigating a shooting that occurred while the SC Poultry Festival was happening in another part of town. The shooting, which injured 2 people, happened at the Creek View Apartments of Willis Street Saturday afternoon.
According to Police Chief Darren Amick, 2 people were injured in the incident and were transported to a local medical center for treatment. One woman was discharged by Saturday evening and a man was still receiving treatment later that day.

Chief Amick also said that this incident didn't appear to be associated with the SC Poultry Festival and investigators didn’t believe that this was a random act of violence. Chief Amick said that they already had a person of interest in the case.
