Investigators with the Cayce Department of Public Safety searching for vehicle involved in hit & run

Cayce, SC (Paul Kirby) - Investigators with the Cayce Department of Public Safety are searching for a vehicle involved in a hit and run collision. This was a vehicle versus pedestrian collision where the driver of the vehicle failed to stop and render aid or call for help for the injured person. Instead, that driver fled the scene.

The incident occurred in the lanes that travel from the county toward Cayce and Columbia near 1925 Airport Boulevard. It happened at approximately 7:45 p.m. Tuesday evening. Officers were notified shortly after 8:00 p.m. when a passing motorist saw an injured pedestrian on the shoulder of the road and called 911.

Investigators are currently reviewing video from local businesses and traffic cameras in the area. The involved vehicle may have damage to the right front headlight and could possibly have a damaged bumper or hood. At this time, investigators are asking anyone who was in the area of Airport Blvd and I-26 around 7:45 p.m. Tuesday to contact them. They are especially interested in any dash camera footage from vehicles driving through the area during the time of this collision.

The victim in this case was transported to a local hospital. That person's condition has not been released.

Anyone with information or footage of that area is asked to contact Lt. Jason Merrill at the Cayce Department of Public Safety by calling (803) 794-0456.
