Irmo Fire District and Columbia City firefighters fight working 3-alarm apartment fire off Longcreek Drive Sunday

Columbia, SC 03/11/2024 (Paul Kirby) – The Irmo Fire District responded to assist the City of Columbia Fire Department with a 3-alarm fire at The Hollows Apartments in the 300 block of Longcreek Drive near I-20 Sunday evening. They were requested around 7:00 p.m.

Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy fire working through the building and spreading through the roof and attic space. Some of the roof had already collapsed and that forced the fire commander to put water streams from ladder trucks in play until the heaviest part of the fire could be slowed down for mop up.

According to the district, the building suffered significant damage. At one point, the departments on scene reported no injuries were sustained as a result of this fire. Fire marshals from the City of Columbia Fire Department were on the scene trying to decide what had started the fire shortly after it was brought under control.
