Irmo, SC 05/22/2025 - The Irmo Town Council is pleased to announce the appointment of Jim Crosland as the next Town Administrator for the Town of Irmo. Mr. Crosland will officially assume the role on July 7, 2025, following a unanimous vote by the Town Council on May 21, 2025.

Mr. Crosland, a seasoned public servant with nearly three decades of experience in state and municipal government, most recently served as the City Manager for the City of Cayce. He previously worked in Irmo as a Police Sergeant early in his career and brings with him a deep understanding of municipal operations, law enforcement leadership, and executive management. A graduate of the FBI National Academy and the SC Economic Development Institute, Mr. Crosland is known for his team-building leadership style and operational expertise.

He replaces current Town Administrator Courtney Dennis, who announced his resignation on May 7, 2025, after 23 years of service to the Town. Mr. Dennis will depart on July 3, 2025, to accept a position as Chief Operating Officer for a company specializing in the manufacturing of portable buildings and sheds. His departure follows a distinguished career in public service, including his roles as Police Chief and Administrator, during which he helped lead the Town through transformative community development and modernization efforts.

In addition to the appointment of Mr. Crosland, the Town has also promoted Doug Polen, the current Assistant Town Administrator, to the role of Deputy Administrator. In this expanded role, Mr. Polen will assume greater responsibility in the day-to-day operations of the Town and continue supporting the implementation of strategic initiatives under the guidance of the incoming Administrator.

“We are grateful for Courtney’s outstanding service and leadership over the years,” said Mayor Bill Danielson. “His dedication to Irmo has been remarkable, and we wish him all the best in his new endeavor. At the same time, we are excited to welcome Jim Crosland back to Irmo. His experience and knowledge make him the right person to lead our Town, and we’re confident that with Jim and Doug working together, Irmo is in excellent hands.”
