Irmo mayor says he’s recovered from COVID-19

Irmo, SC (Paul Kirby) – Irmo’s charismatic mayor Barry Walker says that he and his wife have recovered from their bout with the COVID-19 virus. Walker informed the community of this via email Thursday.

In that communication, Walker wrote, “I am happy to inform you that my wife, Susan and I made it through the COVID-19 virus. As you know, we tested positive and immediately quarantined at home for 14 days.” Walker went on to say that both he and his wife experienced bouts of fatigue and a severe loss of taste and smell. He also said that they sincerely appreciate the thoughts and prayers of everyone who reached out during their recent illness.

Walker said that he will be resuming normal activities immediately, but will continue to wear a mask, practice social distancing, and frequently wash his hands. He urged the community to do the same. Once again he said, “The COVID-19 virus is NO JOKE.”
