Irmo, SC 03/20/2022 (Paul Kirby) - Officers with the Irmo Police Department have arrested and jailed a man after he stabbed and killed his brother Saturday night. According to Irmo Police Chief Bobby Dale, the department received a call about the stabbing at about 9:30 p.m. through the county's 911 system. Callers said that the scene was in the 300 block of Wharfsdale Road.
When officers arrived, they found one man dead with a stab wound to his chest near the front door of the home. After further investigation, officers arrested the deceased man's brother Robert Weir, 40, of Irmo. Investigators determined that Weir had stabbed and killed his brother with a butcher knife after they had argued earlier in the evening. Robert Weir was taken into custody and booked into the Lexington County Detention Center. He is charged with manslaughter and possession of deadly weapon during a violent crime.
