Irmo Police Department investigating armed robbery inside town

Irmo, SC (Paul Kirby) 11/17/2020 - Detectives with the Irmo Police Department are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at the Pitt Stop convenience store in the town. The store is located in the 7400 block of Broad River Road.

According to police, around 8:00 p.m. Monday night, the suspect entered the store wearing a torn white t-shirt or rag as a mask or face covering. He presented a handgun which employees in the store saw before demanding cash. He then fled the scene toward the back of the store.

Witnesses describe the suspect as a black male in his mid-30s. He is believed to be about 6 feet tall and weighs approximately 200 pounds.
