It’s official, Tractor Supply coming to Red Bank

Red Bank, SC 03/01/2021 (Paul Kirby) – It’s official, the old house has been moved and the sign is up. Tractor Supply is coming to Red Bank. It will be built on South Lake Drive just east (toward Swansea) of the entrance to South Lake Crossing where the Publix is located.

An old home had been on the property while it was for sale. That was moved recently out toward the Pond Branch area of the county. This cleared the way for the official announcement that the new store would be built.

Tractor Supply is a store that mostly focusses on rural or country style living. They offer everything from domestic pet foods to chicken scratch, rabbit pellets, and fence panels or post. They even sell their own brand of small tractor implements as well as tools and other items needed for small and moderate sized farming and gardening operations.

Just so you’re not all work and no play, they also carry some toys like ATVs, side-by-sides, and kayaks. If you’re a fan of diecast models of tractors, trucks, or construction equipment, they normally have a large selection of those too.

According to their webpage at Tractorsupply.com, In 1938, Charles E. Schmidt Sr. of Chicago, Illinois, established a mail-order tractor parts business from his kitchen table. By 1939, it had grown into a successful retail store in Minot, North Dakota. Today, there are over 1,800 stores in 49 states. There are already several locations in Lexington County including one in Batesburg-Leesville and another on Sunset Boulevard in Lexington. They are the largest operator of rural lifestyle retail stores in the United States.

Their app and curbside pickup program are well laid out and easy to use. It has been a lifeline to some small operations during the COVID-19 pandemic when people were sick but still had livestock to feed. In many cases, you can order your items from the app and receive an email within a short time advising that your order is ready for curbside pickup. Once you arrive at the store, simply check in through the app and a friendly associate will quickly bring your items to you for loading. You never have to get out of your vehicle and personally interact at close range with anyone if you don't feel that's necessary or safe. Whether it is 20 bags of horse feed, food for the fishpond, or fertilizer for your land, it’s a basic, well run shopping experience geared more toward your pets and livestock than people. Most stores even have a DIY pet washing and grooming station.

They also have an apparel section where you can purchase tough outdoor wear including jackets, hats, gloves, and even Ariat brand boots. There are fashions for men, women, and children. If you enjoy working in the outdoors, chances are that Tractor Supply will have what you need to get you started or help you maintain your property.

There has been no timeline released on the store’s completion. We will keep you up to date on its progress as the work begins.
