Jesus Is His Name begins its fifth season

South Congaree, SC 12/04/2020 – A much loved Christmas tradition has returned to the Midlands of South Carolina for its fifth year. Jesus Is His Name, a live play and musical about the birth, life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ began its run on Friday, December 4, 2020. Seeing this wonderful performance is FREE of charge. There is also no cost to park.

Friends and families have made experiencing a performance of Jesus Is His Name an annual tradition. Thousands come to visit and after immersing themselves in the atmosphere of the live show, they invite others to experience the performance with them. Clifford Fisher, a principal organizer, supporter, and performer with JIHN said recently that each year, he’s noticed more and more people attend one of the season’s earlier performances and then return with others to enjoy it again. “Once they’ve seen Jesus Is His Name, it’s as if they’ve suddenly found a beautiful diamond they want to share. In the case of a real diamond, sharing it would eventually cause it to be disappear. With this jewel, the more you share it the more it grows.”

Jesus Is His Name has approximately 120 volunteer cast members, live animals, and wonderful live music during the 8 free performances. Because it’s performed under the roof of the South Congaree Equestrian Arena, it’s simple for the narrator and performers to transport guest back to a more rustic period in the world’s history for this life changing story! “Since 2016, the South Congaree Arena has been transformed each December into a vibrant, inspiring venue to experience the re-enactment of the life of Jesus,” Fisher said. “The audience is absolutely captivated by the vivid sets, live animals, and colorful cast members who make the performance come alive.”

Volunteers from several counties and more than a dozen churches come together to share the wonderful story of Jesus’ birth, life, death, and resurrection. Productions over the two-weekend run has become a Christmas highlight for many!

The performances began Friday, December 4th and will continue through Sunday, December 6th rounding out the first weekend. Then again next weekend, performances will begin on Friday, December 11th and continuing through Sunday the 13th with the grand finale show. Friday performances began at 7:00 p.m. and there’s a matinee each Saturday beginning at 2:00 p.m. Both Saturday and Sunday evenings, the performances begin at 6:00 p.m.

The drama is performed at 395 Oak Street, South Congaree, SC 29172. For more information, please visit: www.jesusishisname.net.
