Lake Murray earns nomination for Best Lake for Water Sports in USA Today’s 10 Best Reader’s Choice Award

Lake Murray, SC 05/05/2025 - Lake Murray has once again been recognized on the national stage, earning a nomination for Best Lake for Water Sports in USA Today’s 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards for a second year in a row. After earning 2nd place in the 2024 Awards behind Lake Erie, the Lake Murray Country region is now mobilizing support to achieve the coveted top spot this year.

Voting for the USA Today 10Best Readers' Choice Awards is underway and will close on June 2, 2025, at 11:59 AM EST. The public is invited to vote daily via the USA Today 10 Best website. Winners will be announced on June 11, 2025.


This prestigious nomination highlights Lake Murray’s continued status as a premier destination for water-based recreation in the Southeast and beyond. Known for its over 650 miles of shoreline, clear waters, and natural beauty, Lake Murray attracts visitors year-round for activities including kayaking, paddle boarding, jet skiing, wakeboarding, and boating.
