Lexington, SC 10/17/2022 (Paul Kirby) – Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon and his staff took to social media today to remind all motorist about the rules of the road when it comes to school buses across our state. He, and other departmental leaders as well as the state’s SCHP, and the SCDPS, are all stressing the importance of operating with an extra measure of safety when sharing the roads with buses during the school year.

In order to know exactly when to stop or proceed when a school bus is displaying their stop arms and warning lights, most agencies are using an easy-to-understand illustration that makes those laws easy to follow. You can see that illustration below. If after reviewing this, you still have questions about any traffic laws, call or stop by your local law enforcement agency. You may make a new friend in the officer you meet, and will be better prepared when you take to the roads.
