Lexington, SC – Lexington Police Chief Terrence Green said Friday that Desmond Quiana Hampton, age 18 of Lexington, South Carolina, has been arrested for his part in a recent armed robbery.
According to Chief Green, on the afternoon of Tuesday, August 4, 2020, Desmond Hampton, along with an accomplice, robbed a victim at gunpoint at an apartment complex off Park Road in Lexington. The two men robbed the victim of over $300 and then left the scene.
After this incident, Desmond Hampton fled from South Carolina and officials began searching for his whereabouts. They eventually determined that he had been hiding from law enforcement in New York and Alabama over the past two months.
At some point Hampton returned to South Carolina and was arrested at a residence in Pelion on Tuesday, October 6, 2020, by law enforcement officials. The team that apprehended him included the agents from the State Law Enforcement Division (SLED), the United States Marshall's Service, and the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department.
Police say that Hampton is a documented gang member and is being held without bond at the Lexington County Detention Center on the charges of Armed Robbery, Possession of Weapon During a Violent Crime, and Criminal Conspiracy.
