Lexington, SC 08/03/2023 (Paul Kirby) - Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher said Thursday that the person recovered from the waters of Lake Murray near Chapin has been identified. The body of Jonathan Lee Shealy, 43, of Gaston was found near Dawn Island Trail on July 27, 2023, at approximately 7:30 p.m.
Coroner Fisher stated that Shealy’s body was found submerged and was recovered by the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department Dive Team. An autopsy was performed at the Medical University of South Carolina on July 29, 2023. The result of that autopsy is pending.
The Lexington County Coroner’s Office and Lexington County Sheriff’s Department continue to investigate the incident.
