Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher identifies victim of Bush Berry Road motorcycle fatality

Lexington, SC 06/06/2022 (Paul Kirby) - Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the person who died as a result of a motorcycle collision in the Pelion area of the county Sunday evening. According to Fisher, the crash happened in the 300 block of Bush Berry Road shortly before 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 5, 2022.

According to Coroner Fisher, Robert Joe McDaniel III, 38, of Gaston was traveling eastbound on Bush Berry Road toward Edmund Highway when he collided with a vehicle that was traveling in the opposite direction. The driver of the vehicle attempted to turn into a private drive causing McDaniel to strike the turning vehicle. McDaniel, who was not wearing a helmet at the time of accident, was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead due to the injuries sustained in the collision. The driver of the vehicle was not injured and remained on scene.

The incident is being investigated by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
