Lexington, SC 06/13/2022 (Paul Kirby) – Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has now identified the man who died in a collision on US Hwy 378 near Lake Village Drive on Friday morning. According to Fisher and the SCHP, this collision occurred at approximately 11:00 a.m. on June 10, 2022.
According to Coroner Fisher, Bobby Joe Price, 64, of Leesville, who was the passenger in a pickup truck, was traveling eastbound toward Lexington on Highway 378. For reasons unexplained, the driver of the small Ford Ranger pickup crossed the center line striking a Peterbilt tractor trailer head-on. Price, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, was transported to a local trauma center but was later pronounced dead due to the injuries he sustained. The driver of the pickup was also transported to an area hospital where his current condition is unknown. The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate the incident.
