Lexington county coroner now calling Lexington suspicious death a homicide

Lexington, SC (Paul Kirby) – Sunday afternoon, Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher released the name of the person who died in what Lexington police officers had deemed a suspicious manner over the weekend. Coroner Fisher also said that the case was now being investigated as a homicide.

Fisher identified the victim as Ms. Janet Carol Buril, 75, of Lexington. She said that Buril died at approximately 1:00 a.m. on September 19, 2020. She was found deceased in her home in the Hickory Hill mobile home community. This is located in the 100 block of Industrial Drive in Lexington.

According to Coroner Fisher, Buril was pronounced dead at the scene due to blunt force trauma to the head.

The Lexington Police Department is investigating.
