Lexington County deputies arrest man after a shooting investigation Tuesday

Lexington, SC 08/23/2023 (Paul Kirby) – Deputies from the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department have arrested a man in connection with a shooting incident that happened Tuesday evening. The incident occurred off Gardners Terrace Road just outside the town of Gaston. Two people were injured in the shooting.

According to medical personnel, one of the victims is believed to be in stable condition. The other victim suffered what has been described as a non-life-threatening injury.

According to the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department, a 911 call came into Lexington County’s Emergency Telecommunication Center about the shooting at approximately 6:15 p.m. The caller then reported that this shooting had just occurred. Deputies from the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department, as well as first responders from the Lexington County Fire Service, and paramedics and EMTs with the County’s EMS responded.

After the deputies arrived at the home and secured the scene, they were quickly able to detain the suspected shooter. There was another man arrested as well on completely unrelated charges. This happened about a half hour after the shooter was taken into custody.

Investigators believe the shooting was an isolated incident between people who knew each other. They do not feel as if the general public was in danger at any point during the incident.
