Lexington County firefighters rescue family dog and save home from fire on Freda Road in the Red Bank area of the county

Red Bank, SC 03/27/2024 (Paul Kirby) – Lexington County firefighters responded to a home on fire in the 100 block of Freda Road off Robbie Road in the Red Bank area of Lexington County Wednesday. Reports of the fire were received around 3:00 p.m. When firefighters arrived on the scene, they reported there was smoke coming from the home.

The first crews to arrive set up to make an aggressive interior attack. As other units arrived, a command structure began to be assembled. A team was assigned the task of performing a primary search. At some point during this search, those firefighters were able to locate and bring out the family’s dog in good condition. Within a matter of moments, those first teams were able to knockdown the fire and bring it under control.

Because of the amount of smoke in the home from the fire, a fan was called for and placed in service. This fan helps remove the smoke to prevent more damage  to the home and eventually allows for the firefighters to remove their breathing apparatus while working inside.

The firefighters did a quick job of getting this fire under control and minimizing the damages. There was been no estimate of the financial damages to the home or its caused released by Lexington County.
