Lexington, SC 10/21/2022 (Paul Kirby) – According to the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department, they have arrested a man they believe sexually abused a teenage boy for more that two years. Michael Paul Keech, 41, is charged with three second-degree counts and one third-degree count of criminal sexual conduct with a minor under 16, according to warrants they have obtained.
According to Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon, their investigation started after a family member of the alleged victim reported to them signs of the abuse. “Our work on the case including gathering evidence from the victim’s home and interviewing him,” Koon stated.
The alleged victim recounted sexual encounters with Keech going back to the summer of 2019. The latest incident took place as recently as February of this year, according to Sheriff Koon.
“Keech has previously held positions of authority,” Koon said. “We haven’t ruled out the possibility of more people stepping forward with similar stories of abuse.”
Sheriff Koon said that he encourages anyone with information about Keech that would be helpful in moving further in their investigation to share that with his department. “We want to make sure we’re doing right by anyone who’s been involved in something against their will,” Koon concluded.
To make a tip, us the Midlands Crimestoppers mobile P-3 app to share those with the LCSD.
Deputies arrested Keech Thursday. He’s being held in The Lexington County Detention Center.
