Lexington County man dies in vehicle collision near Red Bank late Saturday night
Red Bank, SC (Paul Kirby) – A Lexington County man has died following a collision with another vehicle near the intersection of South Lake Drive and Bluefield Road in the Red Bank area late Saturday night. According to Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher, the crash occurred shortly before 11:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 10, 2020.
Fisher said that Frank Harry James Sturkie Jr., 39, of Lexington was pronounced dead at the scene due to his injuries. She said that Sturkie was traveling north toward Lexington when he lost control of his vehicle, crossed the center line, and struck an oncoming vehicle. Sturkie was not wearing a seat belt when the collision occurred.
The occupants of the other vehicle were transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The collision is under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
