Lexington County man seriously injured in stabbing Wednesday morning while at work

Lexington, SC 12/29/2021 (Paul Kirby) – A Lexington County man was seriously injured when he was stabbed early Wednesday morning during an altercation with a coworker at a business off Emmanuel Church Road. This happened just before 6:30 a.m. at a construction company where both of the men were apparently preparing to begin their workday.

According to the victim’s family, the man who was stabbed was rushed to the Trauma Center at Prisma Health’s Palmetto Richland Campus by Lexington County EMS. He has since undergone surgery for deep lacerations that ran across his abdomen toward his groin. Although he is out of surgery now, his medical team did have to repair internal damage and bleeding. He remains in serious condition.

When this incident was originally reported, deputies from the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department, along with personnel from Lexington County’s Fire Service and EMS, responded. We have been told by the victim’s family that the man’s coworker has been arrested. Investigators are working through the process of interviewing witnesses and gathering evidence before charges against the suspect are finalized. Captain Adam Myrick, spokesman for Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon, said earlier Wednesday that he was working to gather more information regarding this crime prior to releasing any further information.
