Lexington County Sheriff’s Department investigating shooting in Gilbert area of Lexington County

Gilbert, SC 07/14/2023 (Paul Kirby) – Investigators with the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department are working to identify a suspect who shot a man on Beulah Church Road near Erving Price Road late Saturday night. According to Captain Adam Myrick, a spokesperson for Sheriff Jay Koon, this happened just after 10 p.m. on August 12, 2023.

Myrick said that Lexington County’s 911 Emergency Telecommunications Center received reports that a man was laying in the road at that location. When deputies arrived, they found one man in the road beside his truck with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his leg. He advised deputies that he had been shot by a black male who then took his truck keys but left the scene without taking the truck.

Deputies began to interview others that were gathering on the scene and one woman said she had passed through the area earlier and noted a black sedan with what she thought was a white woman inside texting on a mobile device. A few moments later, the witness came back through the intersection again and saw the injured man in the road, but the sedan had left.

The Crime Scene Investigation unit responded and was able to collect evidence that included shell casings. The Sheriff’s Department’s Major Crimes Teams is investigating this shooting.
