Lexington County Sheriff's Department investigating Wednesday evening shooting in Red Bank

Red Bank, SC (Paul Kirby) 12/04/2020 – Lexington County Sheriff's Department investigators are working to gather additional information regarding a shooting that happened in central Lexington County Wednesday evening. Captain Adam Myrick, spokesman for Sheriff Koon, said late Thursday that their work on the case continues.

According to Captain Myrick, a man was shot on Southampton Avenue in the Red Bank community of Lexington County Wednesday evening. Southampton Avenue runs off Two Notch Road near Hoover Building Systems and YMCA Road.

Myrick said that after the man was injured, someone was able to get him into a vehicle and drove him to the Circle K convenience store at the intersection of South Lake Drive and Two Notch Road. A call was placed to 911 and Lexington County EMS, the firefighters, and sheriff's deputies responded.

Personnel from EMS and the fire service treated the man on the scene and then transported him shortly thereafter with a gunshot wound to his lower body. Myrick said, “We’ve been told the injury isn’t life-threatening. While our work on the case continues, we have very little to go on.”

Myrick asked anyone with information on this shooting to please help by making tips through CRIME STOPPERS.
