Red Bank, SC 12/31/2021 (Paul Kirby) - Investigators with the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department are on the scene of a stabbing that occurred in the Red Bank area of the county Friday morning. According to a spokesman for the department, this happened in the 100 block of Weaver Drive which is in the general area of the old Village Store, now a 7-Eleven, off Platt Springs Road.
About noon Friday, Lexington County’s 911 Center received a call about this incident and dispatched both fire and EMS units to a reported shooting. Deputies arrived on scene and instead discovered someone had been stabbed. The deputies turned the injured person’s care over to EMS who transported the victim to a local medical center.

According to the department, the suspect fled the scene before they arrived. An immediate search for that individual began and according to the LCSD, he has since been detained.
According to a spokesman for the department, investigators and crime scene technician are now on the scene and in the neighborhood gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses. They’ve said they want neighbors to be aware that they are knocking on doors in the area so that no one will be alarmed by their presence.
This has been a week filled with violent incidents involving knives in Lexington County. Earlier in the week, a man was stabbed by a co-worker at a business on Emmanuel Church Road. That victim required emergency surgery following that incident. The next day, a man stabbed another in self-defense after he was physically attacked in the Silver Lake MHP. Then this morning, deputies shot a man who came at them with a knife and refused their commands to drop it.
