Lexington County woman killed in head on collision outside of Chapin

Lexington, SC 03/07/2023 - Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has released the details of a collision and the identity of the woman who was killed in that crash that occurred on Tuesday, March 7th just before noon. The collision occurred in the 1600 block of Amick’s Ferry Road near the Timberlake Plantation development outside of the northern Lexington County Town of Chapin.

According to Coroner Fisher, Sarah Taylor Galloway, 41, of Chapin was driving in the 1600 block of Amick’s Ferry Road when the SUV she was operating crossed the center line and collided head on with a dump truck that was travelling in the opposite direction. Galloway was trapped inside her vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS from injuries she sustained in the wreck. The driver of the dump truck was not injured. Fisher said that both Galloway and the driver of the dump truck were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the collision.


The South Carolina Highway Patrol as well as the Lexington County Coroner’s Office will continue to investigate this incident.
