Lexington District One announces hiring of assistant principal at Oak Grove

Lexington, SC 04/22/2021 - Superintendent Greg Little, Ed.D., announced today that the Board of Trustees approved an administrator hire during their April 20, 2021 Board Meeting. The board approved the hiring of Joseph W. Casey for the position of assistant principal at Oak Grove Elementary School, effective July 1, 2021.

Casey comes to Lexington County School District One from Dent Middle School in Richland School District Two, where he’s served as assistant principal for curriculum and instruction for the past five years (2016 to present).

Before joining Dent Middle School, he served at Pelion Middle School from 2010–2016 as lead interventionist for the Response to Intervention program, teacher and coach.

He began his career at White Knoll Middle School in 2006 as an English language arts teacher and coach.

Casey graduated from Suffolk County Community College with an Associate of Arts degree in general studies, The State University of New York College at Cortland with a Bachelor of Arts in adolescent English education, and the University of South Carolina with a Master of Education in educational leadership.

He is a member of the National Association of Secondary School Principals, South Carolina Association for Middle Level Education, South Carolina Association of School Administrators, and the Palmetto State Teachers Association.
